Computers are required in the areas where fast and accurate computation of complex data is required., which is difficult for the human brain to cope up with. Some of the prominent areas of the computer applications are:

Business

Computers in business help to collect, manage and visualize customer's details which have made it an integrated part of all business organizations. A large amount of data can be stored in computers enabling business owners to keep track of their employees as well as their working status.

Computers can also be used in business organizations for :

• Financial forecasting
• Managing the details of each employee
• Maintaining the stock available in the organization

Education

Computers have a deep impact on the education system and all thanks to the computer, education has become a lot easier and much more interesting. The Internet is a much larger and easier-to-access storehouse of information. The computer provides a tool in the education system known as CBE (Computer Based Education). When it comes to storing retrieved information, it is easier done on computers than maintaining hand-written notes. 

Marketing

The Internet has become a great method to promote a business and grow sales rapidly. It provides businesses with an advertising channel that can potentially reach millions of customers all around the world. Advertising on the web can be cheaper than traditional advertising through media such as TV, radio, and print, which can make it attractive to new companies with small advertising budgets.

Communication

Computers are critical for communication and are the centerpiece of information technology. Unlike the old days when people used to communicate using letters and had to wait for days to get the response, people now can connect with each other at the speed of light using emails. Social networking has taken communication a step further than email due to their ability to instantly communicate life and status updates to an entire network of people who can respond and comment to such notes in real time.

Computers have become an important part of hospitals, labs, and dispensaries. They are being used in hospitals to keep the record of patients and medicines. It is also used in scanning and diagnosing different diseases. ECG, EEG, ultrasounds and CT scans, etc. are also done by computerized machines. Computers in healthcare filed are used to:

• check drug labels, expiry dates, harmful side effects, etc.
